About
I’m Mari. A new-ish mother who lives abroad, thrives on travel, creativity, and the outdoors.
I grew up in California, in a family that spent weekends hiking, swimming, and enjoying picnics on mountainsides. I currently live in New Zealand with my partner, Nick, and our son, where we enjoy much of the same activities.
While I’ve done some adventurous things like solo traveling, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and moving to the other side of the world, parenthood still feels like my biggest adventure yet.
I knew motherhood would be difficult, but I didn’t realize how truly life changing the experience would be. I got so caught up in this new role, that I became disconnected from who I was and what brought me joy, beyond my son. It was not being able to do things I was passionate about like travel (the pandemic also helped with that), living life revolved around a routine that was not my own (babies love routines!), lack of sleep, and the lack of a good support system.
I craved community and the things that once lit me up, but I was often too tired or distracted to seek those things out. Though it felt like a lonely place, I realized I probably wasn’t alone in feeling this way, so I created Biggest Adventure Yet. A place to learn, grow, and build community with other adventurous, creative and global humans raising the next generation.
